Mytech Culture Experience December 2013

This month we would like to reflect on our November value of "Embrace Uniqueness" by highlighting one of our Mytech team members who exemplifies this value every day – Abby Minor. We at Mytech have the great privilege of working with Abby and her nearly endless supply of positive energy. Abby has always demonstrated the ability to welcome everyone – regardless of whether or not she has ever even met them. She is one of the first people to acknowledge someone else's achievements, to say thank you, to offer words of encouragement and in general is a kind soul to all with whom she comes into contact.

"A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself."
- Jim Morrison

Abby is someone who understands what friendship meant to Jim Morrison which is also one of the main components of Embrace Uniqueness. Abby welcomes people and is thankful for who they are and the individual characteristics they possess. Abby has been a rock on our Tele Sales team for a couple years and because she knows how to Embrace Uniqueness, she is able to provide exceptional service to our team and customers. Thank you Abby for being you, for sharing who you are with Mytech and for being a daily reminder of how we can make the world a better place by choosing to Embrace Uniqueness.

"By being yourself, you put something wonderful in the world that was not there before."
- Edwin Elliot

Part of our culture experience over the last few years has been to define our values, to understand how we can continually improve the way we live and how they apply to our everyday world. One of the ways we have worked to reinforce our values is to learn about different personality types as described in the Make a Difference book by Dr. Larry Little. We all have different personality characteristics, which for Dr. Little are defined as Lion, Camel, Turtle or Monkey. As we surveyed our team at Mytech, it was no surprise to learn that we have a myriad of different personalities with different blends of Lion/Camel or Monkey/Turtle or Camel/Monkey and more that make up who we are as an organization. The different roles and functions at Mytech (and any organization) can be best filled by those whose unique personality characteristics align with the particular requirements of the position. While this is nothing new to the world of business, I commend our culture committee for identifying the value of Embrace Uniqueness which in two words describes how critical it is for an organization to build a dynamic, non-homogenous team. It is the very differences of individuals that bring value to the community.

"If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be."
- Maya Angelou

To our great team at Mytech, thank you for bringing a part of who you are to our world. Our team, our customers and our vendor partners are better served because you bring your own experience and unique personality to every interaction.

"To thine own self be true."
- Shakespeare
